چکیده

Non-tumorigenic Rhizobium (syn. Agrobacterium) vitis strain ARK-1 (ARK-1) has been shown to reduce crown gall in grapevine (Vitis vinifera) seedlings when co-inoculated with Japanese tumorigenic isolates of R. vitis. The objectives this study were test ARK-1's efficacy as a biological control agent against isolated from grapevines Virginia, and examine genetic diversity found USA Japan. was into wine grape trunks (V. vinifera cv. ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’) isolate at 1:1 cell ratio (~108 cell/ml). A total four tested individually. Compared treatments alone, co-inoculation significantly decreased (P ≤ 0.05) the mean probability formation all cases, diameter all, but one case (isolate ACME15). average reduction 90% 92% diameter, respectively. We conducted exploratory data visualization distance-based clustering correspondence analysis using ISSR- rep-PCR, which showed separation Virginia placement near isolates. These results suggest that is good candidate for biocontrol mid-Atlantic region USA.

Biological control for grapevine crown gall using nonpathogenic Rhizobium vitis strain ARK-1

Crown gall of grapevine, which is caused by tumorigenic Rhizobium vitis, is the most important bacterial disease of grapevine throughout the world. Screening tests of biological control agents resulted in the discovery of a nonpathogenic R. vitis strain ARK-1. By soaking grapevine roots with a cell suspension of strain ARK-1 prior to planting in the field, ARK-1 treatment significantly reduced ...

Biological Control of Crown Gall on Grapevine and Root Colonization by Nonpathogenic Rhizobium vitis Strain ARK-1

A nonpathogenic strain of Rhizobium vitis ARK-1 was tested as a biological control agent for grapevine crown gall. When grapevine roots were soaked in a cell suspension of strain ARK-1 before planting in the field, the number of plants with tumors was reduced. The results from seven field trials from 2009 to 2012 were combined in a meta-analysis. The integrated relative risk after treatment wit...

Biological activities of Vitis vinifera L. leaves

The fractions of different polarity, namely chloroform, ethylacetate, n-butanol, and remaining water fractions, were fractionated from an aqueous extract of V. vinifera leaves. The antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, antioxidant activities, and total phenolic content of these fractions were investigated. The chloroform fraction showed a promising effect against Herpes simplex virus type-1 (HS...
